Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I believe technology is at its best when it's approachable and accessible to everyone. Let's do amazing things with the tech we own!

Impression: Peek Performance

Impression: Peek Performance

Tim Cook and company took the stage once again to present to the world what the entire team at Apple has been working on.

I will say my overall impression of the keynote was quite good. I actually feel Apple overdelivered with what I was expecting. When the keynote started with their now quite regular updates on Apple TV +, iPhone SE, and iPad Air I wasn’t too blown away. It all kind of seemed “business as usual” on par with the last few years of what a March event seems to offer. Lower cost iPhone with newer internals to give it years more of support, iPad with some updates to put it more on par with the previous iPad Pro, and of course new Apple watch and iPhone case colors. What really got me excited was the improvements of the Mac with Apple Silicon and the introduction of M1 Ultra.

Apple has positioned themselves for a desktop computing experience structured around speed, stability, safety, and ease of use that will set them up to scale even further in enterprise.

With the launch of Apple Studio Display and the new Mac Studio, these products are going to make a huge impact on the creative business who truly need this incredible processing power. This will not only present truly unmatched computing power to enhance their workflow, but will openly unleash a consumer and professional vision for uninhibited creativity.

If you look at the speedtest of the current Mac Pro that is maxed out at a 2.5GHz 28-core Intel Xeon W processor, the Apple Mac Studio M1 Ultra chip seemingly blows past the performance of this product. Not to mention the current Maxed out Mac Pro comes in around $20,000.00 compared to the Mac Studio at $4,000.00. Unreal when you really think about it.

The Apple Studio Display is quite the sophisticated display when it comes down to specs, as the firmware built into the display tells me this will be around for years to come. What excites me about this display is that on apple.com it states that:

Studio Display is compatible with the following iPad models running iPadOS 15.4 or later:

iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later)

iPad Pro 11-inch

iPad Air (5th generation)

This quite honestly may open up a truly external display support for iPad Pro and iPad Air come June when WWDC comes around. The hardware is in place, there very easily can be an over the air software update to allow iPad Pro to use Apple Studio Display to its full potential.

Now the team at Apple during the keynote did drop a hint to the “future Apple Silicon Mac Pro”, but based on the raw computing power of Apple Studio, I’m quite interested to see where this fits in this ecosystem? Perhaps Apple truly is taking a business first mindset for this upcoming Apple Silicon Mac Pro that will be in a category by itself?

Needless to say, I’m excited about the future of the Mac. Up until the introduction of Apple Silicon, the Mac felt like it was on a slow and steady wins the race mindset. Now since the introduction of Apple Silicon, the Mac in my opinion is stronger than ever before and Apple has the sales to prove it.

The future looks bright my friends. I can’t wait to see what comes next. 🚀
