Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I believe technology is at its best when it's approachable and accessible to everyone. Let's do amazing things with the tech we own!

Prediction:  WWDC 2019

Prediction:  WWDC 2019

It’s that time again, and in my opinion it’s the most exciting keynote Apple lets us be a part of all year. Every year in June Apple holds their World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) and 2019 is really the year for Apple to shine. I say this for a few reasons:

I predict we will see major enhancements for iOS really unlocking the true potential specifically in iPad. Apple’s latest hardware isn’t just fast, it’s *very* fast! The part that is holding it back is mobile software.

Expect software only announcements. Apple doesn’t usually launch any hardware at WWDC. It really is a conference for the developers, and software is what is in focus.

I predict these enhancements:

iOS 13

-Dark Mode

-iOS Files App Enhancement

-iPad Mouse Support via an “Accessibility Option”.

-Further External Display support from iPad Pro utilizing USB C Port

-Safari displaying all internet pages in Desktop Mode if selected

-Xcode on iPad allowing developers to create apps on the device they are deploying to

-iCloud enhancements

-Further security enhancements

WatchOS 6

-Dedicated  Watch App Store (Look out for Apps to break free on Apple Watch with watchOS 6!)

-Health enhancements to further bridge the gap between the consumer and health care.

Ex: Medication reminders, wellness checkins, and more partnerships to Hospitals.

tvOS 13

- TV+ - We will hear more about Apple’s original content they are developing and how easy it will be to access this content on the Apple TV

macOS 10.15 (I think Apple has the potential to drop the Prefix of 10.x)

-Apple will continue to bring iOS and macOS closer together with the next version of macOS.

-I really feel this is the version of macOS that will enable developers to start creating universal Apps for iOS and macOS. Apple has tested this themselves in their current version of macOS Mojave 10.14.x with the “Stocks”, “News”, and “Home” App.

-Time Machine App overhaul (It’s really time for macOS Backups to also leverage iCloud) Watch this space for Apple to enable local, but also cloud backups with Time Machine or perhaps a new branded app

-iTunes rebranding (With Apple bringing further integration to  Music, this is the version of macOS that we will see iTunes as we have known it broke up into multiple apps. Music, Movies, etc.) — I do NOT think Apple will take away the core functionality with this. Meaning the ability to backup and iOS device locally to the Mac.

It should be an exciting keynote for sure! Be sure to watch it on Apple’s website here. Additionally, if you have an Apple TV you can download the dedicated “Apple Events” app which will be live streaming the content. It will be great to get my hands on beta software after the keynote is done, so I’ll be sure to post updates on my findings. All eyes on Apple once again. I really hope they deliver some amazing enchantments, this June 3rd at 10 AM PST.

Best,

-Joe 
